At Best Home Magazine, we’re always drawn to communities that blend design vision with a strong sense of place—and Nostalgia Townlet does exactly that. Set along the banks of the Bow River in southeast Calgary, this master-planned community captures the charm of timeless European towns while reimagining what modern urban village living can be.
Inspired by the world’s great townships, Nostalgia Townlet is built around a vibrant Main Street that twists and unfolds toward panoramic river views and welcoming public spaces. Designed in harmony with the landscape, the community reflects the rhythm of the Bow River and celebrates walkability, gathering places, and everyday connection.
Urban designer Geoff Dyer of B&A Studios helped shape a vision rooted in both history and meaning. As he explains, nostalgia isn’t simply about the past—it’s about the feeling of returning home. That philosophy guided a collaborative design process focused on honouring the land while creating a lively, people-centered town.
At the heart of the community will be a mixed-use urban district featuring shops, restaurants, and the impressive Nostalgia Club—an amenity-rich destination designed to anchor social life in the neighbourhood. With curated experiences, athletic facilities, and spaces for gathering, it’s envisioned as a central hub where lifestyle and community intersect.
Spanning roughly 350 acres and planned for about 5,800 homes, Nostalgia Townlet will introduce its first phase with Jayman’s Icona townhomes at the gateway to the neighbourhood. Tree-lined streets, nine parks, and a network of pathways will connect residents within minutes of green space, while architecture inspired by European tradition and Alberta prairie influences will create a cohesive and distinctive identity.
What sets Nostalgia apart is its balance—heritage inspiration paired with forward-thinking design. From solar-ready homes with Net Zero options to a riverside village concept that invites visitors and residents alike, it’s a community shaped not just for living, but for experiencing.
