Our busy season has started and we have so many new doggies!
We have taken in over 25 dogs this month
(and we are only half way through it!)
Isla Animals is staying busy thanks to all of your support. We currently have over 25 puppies and over 25 adults, we are working hard on finding them homes and making sure thye are healthy, loved and cared for to the highest standards! Want to meet them?!
Busy Bees...
As usual... a lot is happening at Oasis! We continue to improve the dogs' areas, puppyland is looking absolutely perfect and functions even better than we could have dreamt of, the big shelter room, that's another story... While it works great, we are very aware of some issues like our floor... this is a project for next summer when we can move the dogs out of this are and we'll finally tile it. For now, we try to ignore the fact that's chipping... it works... a future project will be to make it perfect!
Our garden area is finally getting green... Our memorial tree is starting to look like a canopy and we cannot wait for the shade is going to provide next summer, our fruit trees are surviving the puppy attacks.... Soon we'll have our little Jungle Oasis as we have dreamt!
Our volunteers' apartment is finally being lived in! We have started running our volunteering program and have had much more interest than we anticipated. Having extra hands is a blessing!!! When we designed Oasis, we knew we wanted an apartment where some volunteers could come be part of the rescue life. Now it's a reality and we are beyond excited!
In terms of construction, we are finishing a small apartment and dog area for behavior dogs and hopefully for another full-time volunteer to live on site with us in the future. As with every plan we have set up, we work out what's needed, we get dirty and we make it happen... Thinking long term, working on expanding and growing, this is something we are privileged to do... not just surviving, not just being limited to the current status... we are here not just for now but we have plans to keep doing this and doing it even better!
Intake Doggies
We somehow managed to fill the shelter to the max... with doggies going through isolation in bedrooms and bathrooms as we used to do while on Isla. It's temporary, and we are beyond lucky to have the space, the patience and the flexibility to do so!

So many puppies!
In these last weeks, we have taken in over 6 litters of puppies... Some with their mommies, some lone pups, some with no mommy. We have over 20 puppies, most of them between 3 and 5 weeks old!
Adorable... yes.... tons of work.... too!

And as always, we have a commitment to the mommas... Maybe even with more compasion than puppies... they are lucky to get here when they did... they will not have to suffer the trauma, abuse and sadness their mommas had to live through... so these are the mommas that are living now here and will soon be ready for adoptions, so they too, like their babies, can find homes that will cherish them and love them!
